Located in Richmond, California, Ultra Tech Products has been the leader in high-quality organic, horticultural, and industrial vermiculite products for nearly four decades.
Starting with Dr. Ulrich Weissenberg, we have used technology and science to create products that are best in class. Since then, we’ve cultivated an extensive network of partners to help us design and manufacture solutions to help our clients become cleaner and greener.
Dr. Weissenberg became one of the pioneers of vermiculite after receiving a Doctorate in Chemistry and Engineering from the Department of Chemistry, Biology, Geology, and Mineralogy at the Technological University of Darmstadt in 1962.
For his doctoral dissertation, he investigated the alkyl-ammonium amido sulfonates, their ion exchanging reactions, and their exfoliating properties. He moved on to experiment with other types of exfoliating minerals and became fascinated by the properties and processing techniques of vermiculite.
After a career in research and development as the principal scientist at the Dow Chemical Company, in 1985 Dr. Weissenberg settled in northern California and developed Ultra Tech.
The staff at Ultra Tech continues the innovative methods pioneered by Dr. Weissenberg.
